Seachange Camino Call!
We are pulling together a fundraising event for Seachange – it’s a five day walk on the final stages of the Camino de Santiago trail next May 2014 . Every euro donated will go directly to the poorest of the poor in Gujarat India and will get recycled as ‘tiny loans’ over and over.
100% of costs incurred in the walk are being met personally by Seachange friends and volunteers.
We will leave Dublin on the 10th May and arrive back on the 17th of May 2014 (5 working days) – have a look at the attached itinerary!
The final stage of the Camino Frances is an evocative and heart warming walk through the Spanish region of Galicia. It leads you though the final 111km of the Camino Frances which enables you to collect your Compostela certificate on arrival in Santiago.
The Camino is probably the friendliest, most inclusive walking route in the world, with groups forming instantly when pilgrims from all over the world take to the route and no section exemplifies this more than the final stretch from Sarria to Santiago. The joyful camaraderie on this busy section adds to the gentle beauty of the rolling hills of Galicia, the outstanding local cuisine and friendliness of the locals to make this an un-missable long distance walk.
There are many reasons to walk the Camino, religious, spiritual or just taking a break from the stresses of modern life, but whatever your reason, the feeling of satisfaction when you receive your Compostela certificate on completion is overwhelming.
The towns that break your walk along this stretch are small and rustic and offer a real snapshot of what Galician life is all about. The route is peppered with charming old churches and ancient religious relics that give the walk even greater significance and we strive to book accommodation that is the best available in town, with clean, comfortable rooms and friendly, welcoming local hosts.
The Cost incl. flights and accommodation is €695 p.p. and twin costs for a couple will be a little less than double that – so if you’d like to bring a partner or friend along that is easily done. These costs are expected to be paid by the walkers and deposits will be required in advance.
In addition, each walker will raise a minimum of €1,000 for Seachange and in the case of a couple this amount will be €1,500. This will raise much needed funds for Shanti Life in India and our other microcredit projects in Africa and Haiti.
Would you be interested in participating in this? If so, all we need at this stage is a firm commitment as we are only planning having a small group of walkers on the trip.
As this trip is filling fast – book your space now – don’t get left behind – it promises to be great fun.
