RunJohnnyRun – 10 million Steps, 60 Marathons - 4 Years!
In February this year Johnny ( www.RunJohnnyRun.ie) undertook one of the greatest running challenges of all time. He will run 60 Marathons, in 43 countries, on 7 continents, back to back over 4 years – 2000 miles and 10 Million Steps in all - for one good cause – Sea Change Foundation – moving to end extreme poverty. Johnny is an inspiration to us all mostly because he has challenged us all into thinking what can we do to make a difference. |
| A Leg up Not a Hand Out! |
At each Run Johnny Run Gala Ball, guests will enjoy a champagne reception followed by a four course meal specially designed for the event. With limited tables available and an overwhelming support for Sea Change to date, the event promises to be a spectacular night as well as an important fundraiser for this charity. We would be delighted if you could join us by taking a table at this event.
Entertainment will be provided by Superfly an eight piece Dublin band with a line-up consisting of 2 lead vocalists, bass & drums, guitar, keyboards and a killer brass section. Also performing on the night will be Arcana of Special Olympics and Ryder Cup fame.
All funds raised will go to Seachange Foundation, a new Irish registered charity whose mission it is to raise funds and awareness for Microcredit Projects. Microcredit is ‘tiny loans’ targeting the worlds poorest, empowering them to lift themselves, with dignity, out of extreme poverty. Microcredit is having dramatic effects in moving families, communities and entire countries out of extreme poverty and received worldwide recognition when Muhammad Yunus was awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace prize for his pioneering work in the field of ‘Microcredit’. Sea Change is presently funding and working with microfinance partners in Haiti, Kenya, and Thailand and is raising funds to continue the important work carried out over the last number of years. |
